JoAnna Schilling, Ph.D. has been President at Cypress College since 2017. She began her career in community colleges as Dean of Arts and Cultural Programs at Rio Hondo College and went on to serve as Vice President of Academic Affairs at both Cerritos and Rio Hondo Colleges.
Dr. Schilling represents the Orange County community colleges on the statewide CEO Board, and has served on the statewide Affordability, Food & Housing Access Task Force since 2018. She is proud of Cypress College’s partnership with Pathways of Hope to address the critical housing and food needs Cypress and NOCCCD community college students face.
Dr. Schilling has published multiple articles on student success, in addition to being the author of three Dog Lover Companion books for Perseus Books. She is looking forward to participating in Look Who’s Dancing with Pathways of Hope and supporting this amazing organization advocating for an end to homelessness in our community. Dr. Schilling has a doctorate in education from Oregon State University, an MFA in playwriting from Carnegie Mellon University, and a BA in English from Smith College.
