A message from David Gillanders, Executive Director:
Hey everyone, welcome to March and (almost) welcome to Spring!
It’s getting warmer, days are getting longer, and baseball season is almost upon us.
We have some good news! As you probably already know, late in 2019 Pathways of Hope was the recipient of an incredibly generous and highly exclusive grant from Jeff Bezos’s Day 1 Families Fund.
We are incredibly excited to announce that we are deploying roughly $300,000 of this grant as direct service money to the community in the form of rapid re-housing.
Rapid re-housing is a highly effective tool to fight homelessness. It helps overcome the barriers many homeless households face, like poverty and the inability to pay the high costs of deposits and first month’s rents. Rapid re-housing helps families end their homelessness quickly and return to stable housing.
Over the next year and a half, we will be able to help up to 30 families get over this initial hurdle and into a safe, stable home to call their own. Rapid re-housing is something Pathways of Hope has been providing to the community now for several years and we are excited to increase our inventory and capacity to serve more homeless families in the community!
With that said, we still need your help! This incredible gift pays for the direct service provided to these families, but to perform that work and make sure we keep Pathways of Hope’s quality of service as high as possible, we still rely on every single one of you in the community.
